Against the backdrop of fast-paced urbanization, Slow City represents Chen Zhanghong’s gentle portrayal of Shenzhen, a poetic resistance to accelerated modern lifestyles, and an enduring pursuit of inner tranquility. Through artistic expression, he invites audiences to slow down and rediscover authentic life serenity within paintings.
The solo exhibition displays four series of works: Mountain Stream, Methodology, Symbiosis and Slow City. Composed of fragmented short lines and contrasting color blocks, the frames blend regular geometric structures and irregular organic textures. Collisions between color and texture narrate memories and future prospects, breaking social normative constraints and constructing transcendent spiritual spaces free from logical confinement.
All of Chen’s creations revolve around dual themes: order versus freedom, urban development versus individual spiritual survival. The exhibition serves not only as an artwork showcase but also a spiritual reminder, encouraging urban dwellers to reset their life rhythm and regain inner balance through art appreciation.
