Born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in May 1948, He Duoling is a representative figure of China’s contemporary lyrical realist oil painting and a key artist of the Scar Art movement. He graduated from the Postgraduate Class of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1982 and currently resides in Chengdu. He serves as Professor and Master’s Supervisor of the Oil Painting Department at Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts.
In the early 1980s, He Duoling rose to instant fame with works such as Spring Breeze Has Awakened Everything and Youth. His accolades include the Silver and Bronze Prizes at the 6th National Fine Arts Exhibition, the Bronze Prize at the 7th National Fine Arts Exhibition, and the Government of Monaco Award at the 22nd Monte-Carlo International Art Grand Prix. His artworks were featured at the 1982 Paris Spring Salon and the 1986 Asian Art Exhibition held in Japan.
He Duoling has held numerous solo exhibitions at home and abroad. He participated in the 1994 Annual Nomination Exhibition by Art Critics and the 1996 Shanghai Biennale. His works are collected by art institutions and private collectors worldwide, including the National Art Museum of China and the Fukuoka Art Museum.
